What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a cosmetic orthodontic treatment designed to move your teeth into a more aesthetically pleasing look. If your teeth are crowded, crooked, overlapping or misplaced, Invisalign can straighten our your smile!
Invisalign uses custom-designed clear plastic trays (aligners) to gradually move your teeth over time. The movements from your aligners are small compared to the tightening that accompanies traditional braces. That means you will experience more comfortable treatment and be able to avoid the soreness associated with braces. In fact, since you will not have brackets, the insides of your cheeks will not become raw, either.
Because Invisalign trays fit tightly, are completely smooth, and move your teeth very gradually, you will find treatment is much easier than you thought. You will also love that they are nearly invisible, meaning that no one will notice you are wearing them.
You can remove them when you eat and drink to keep food from getting caught in them. Since you also remove them to brush and floss your teeth, you may be less likely to develop cavities or gum disease than with traditional braces.
How Does Invisalign Work?
You will receive new aligner trays approximately every two weeks. Your tray’s design moves your teeth gradually with regular wear – at least twenty-two hours per day.
You'll visit our Jonesboro dental office on a regular basis so that Dr. Parkey can monitor your treatment as it progresses. Then, once your treatment is complete, we will create a retainer so that your teeth do not drift back to their original location.
Invisalign does not work for every orthodontic case.
